Decided to replaced the factory Business CD unit. CD's started skipping and wanted blue tooth. Installed a Kenwood receiver and wiring harness from Crutchfield. Followed the directions, easy install no issues. Sound is much clearer and better, and head unit has a lot of new features. It was very straight forward install. I took my time, maybe two hours total. I wish I did it sooner.

Now to update speakers next..... (I know I still have factory amp...)

I did the same thing two years ago to my '98 Z3 2.8. Crutchfield made it so easy with their wiring harness and instructions. Now I have HD FM, CD, MP3 and USB port. I great and relatively cheap improvement.
I installed the Kenwood KDC-HD552U, paid around $120. The connect plugged right into the plug that pulls off the back of the business radio. You did have to connect all of the wires on the connect to the radio, but the instructions were very easy to follow. I used the connectors I got from Crutchfield which made the splices easy. Entire process of removing the old radio, making the connections and installing the new head unit took about 30 to 45 minutes.

Here are the items I got from Crutchfield.
