iPhone and 2000 BMW 740il

I purchased a 2000 740il without the original phone, it has a phone connector which looks to be for a Motorola phone. I have an iPhone, is there anyway I can have it connected and used it with the car phone system?

I have a 2000 740iL, but with the phone installed. Is there an adapter I can use to make this work with my iphone 3GS?
