It's a Saturday afternoon, sunny and warm. You realize that you have a couple of hours free. BTW, your car is filthy from a week of rain and the lawn needs mowing.

What do you do?

1- Get a beer, climb in the hammock and fall asleep while reading Roundel.

2- Mow the lawn, edge, weed the plantings and generally putz around the yard.

3- Give the lawn a quick mow and the car a quick wash - Done!

4- Carefully wash and wax the car.

5- Grab the keys and go for a long drive on those twisty roads WAY outside of town. Be back by dark.

6- Whatever my wife (husband) tells me to do.

7. play 18
This very question is the reason I never developed my golf game. It just takes too damn long; I can think of so many things I'd rather do with my (infrequent) 4 hour blocs of time on nice days.

Heading over to Rt. 255 where it crosses Skyline Drive is definitely one of them.

Funny. That's why I suck at golf too. I just don't have enough free time to piss that much of it away on golf.
The time thing is definitely a drawback, but 35-hour work weeks help immensely! :D

..and now with the time change, it's easy to just at least play 9 from 3-5 and have plenty of time left to do whatever I want.
4. Definitely wash. Maybe wax. And then
5. Take a nice drive with the sunroof open and the windows down.
Ummmmm, how 'bout playing with the l'il uns (you know, take them to the park, petting zoo, etc.).

that'd be my #1 choice.
Hmmmm, wonder which I would do...
Just as soon as I'm done doing whatever the wife wants me too, I'm on the car. And now that she has a 330, it's a lot easier to convince her the cars need washing. :bigpimp:

Actually, I did not respond honestly on the poll. While I clicked "Go driving...", I would actually do a quick wash and quick mow and THEN take a shorter drive.

I do not like having my car dirty and I have limited time to mow the grass. So, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. But I'd drive before I'd ever pick up a container of wax.

Hence why I've never waxed one of my cars.
you need multiple selection, I'd putz in the yard and wash and detail the car if needed. I generally hang around the house on beautiful days, hard to beat the environment, great lunch under the umbrella on the patio, drinks in the hottub out back, but will also go for a drive with the family topless, which is why I bought the car in the first place as a replacement for the SLK. Golf, a way to ruin a good walk and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy too much precious time for me.
Wash, maybe wax, drive! Fortunately for me, we have a landscaping contractor that handles all grass related issues!
I too would go play golf. Depending on the time availabe, a full round, 9 holes, or even just the range :D
wash, take a good dirve, but I also love doing yard work, I just love warm weather and working on my own yard. :thumb:
key to the question is afternoon!

the labradors get me up at 5am no matter which day of the week.

so i'm up and running by 5:30am. dogs get jogged and fed. cars get gassed up (all of 'em), washed and waxed if needed. then it's only 8am. then i run to lab to do/setup experiments. home by noon.

saturday is entirely open.

:D

I am with you..I am up and gone by 515am! :yikes:
Sigh

Sadly I am usually at work on Saturday afternoons, at that time of the day the sun is shinning into my driveway a wash must wait until 5:30 or so. Sometimes I fall asleep reading a car magazine (my Roundels have yet to arrive).:(
Its a tough schedule but I have done this before and will continue to do so.

1. Leave work early on Friday to cut grass
2. Schedule early tee time (pre 7a.m.) at a course ~ 40 minute back road drive
3. Play a nice round of golf
4. Enjoy 40 minute drive home
5. Edge yard and do touch up (if no grass on Friday mow first)
6. Crack open a cold beer
7. Wash car
8. Grill dinner and some family time

Now that's what I call a nice Saturday:D :thumb:

Pre BMW I was as anal about my yard as Al is about his car.:yikes: I'm learning to balance the two but golf is very high on the list.

No, neighbors always call the cops when I start doing that. J/k
