I just purchased a 1999 323i. Its in great shape mechanically and cosmetically. Any tips for specific issues to watch out for or good places for parts and additions? Any tips would be appreciated.

I would think these, from the VERY best of E39 Links, would apply equally well to the E46 crowd for part numbers and prices ...

- BMW phantom diagrams (1) & nominal prices by part number (1) & EACTuning prices by part number (1) labor rates by zip code (1) (2) (3) where to find a good mechanic (1) (2) joining BMWCCA (1) (2) & finding a reputable BMW indy in your area (1) (2).

And, for suppliers, these from the same place should work for most stuff:

As was said above, welcome to the fest; read the WIKI; use the links; and use the search function.

I would add one more thing, have your subframe checked! That year car is known to have issues there.

Best advice, sell it right away and buy an 02 or newer 330 with a manual transmission. You'll thank me later.

This is news to me. What are the improvements with the 2002 330. Maybe I should sell my 2000 323i with 125K miles and trade up.

An extra 60hp for one thing. Very few problems with subframe tears, no transmission problems, and more fun to own.

I was being a little sarcastic, I have a 99 323 with 234k miles on it, I just grow tired of fixing it.
