A couple of interesting things:

1. Damn, my car's value is plummeting. This is the first car I've owned (rather than leased) in about ten years, and I have to say being a car owner is kind of like being a Nortel shareholder: You cringe every time you open the paper.

2. The salesman I bought my first BMW from is selling his 1991 M3 (I recognize the name and phone no.) Looks nice, and I still really want one of those, but he wants 15K for it, and that's hard to justify for an eleven year old car (especially in light of 1, above).

3. ALEX325, is that your letter?

Hell, I dunno. I had to run out to the drug store at 11:30pm last night (we ran out of Infant Motrin and my son's fever returned) and had a blast with my 330i. Some times I really LOVE it, and some days it's like, ho-hum, it's just a car.

I've had it for almost a year now and have 6,1xx miles on it. I'm sure I'll keep it until this Fall for sure, when we'll take a good look at the RX-8 and G35 6-speed. Who the heck knows?
For crying out loud Harrison, how do you keep such low mileage on that thing. I know Reston is a planned community (lived there for 2 years) but do you actually walk to work?

One of the worst things I hate about living in a large metropolis is the distance from one side to the other. Just to visit my buddy in Alexandria is nearly 60 miles roundtrip!

And for the record - no, I don't think a new model Infinity will hold it's value like your 330i will. BMW is riding a peak of popularity in the US. Nissan/Infinity are rarely seen on the roads anymore as common as their counterparts, Toyota and Honda.

In terms of the mileage, I guess I don't know. We haven't taken any long road trips in this thing (not counting the 800 miles we put on it in Germany when we picked it up last Spring), and we usually take my wife's SUV for week-end stuff (it has both baby seats in the back, and it's on a 3-year lease which expires in 12/02, and she's ALSO short on miles, so we typically take hers on the weekends). I use my bimmer for commuting to/from Fairfax, and putzing around--not much else.

Sorry to tell you but according to the Mazda rep at the New York Auto Show the RX-8 isn't coming out until Summer of 2003. Which really sucks :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: I have no idea why Mazda needs totake so long to get the car to market . . . it's been out for a while now. I was planning on checking out when I buy a new car but don't want to wait that long !!

BTW I hope your son is feeling better now
Thanks Alan. He's still got a bit of a temp, but he's returning to his normal 'happy-go-lucky' laughing around self.
