Hi all, I have been trying to research all the stuff needed in addition to the device itself that I would need to get this to work in my E90. Apparently it is really hard to find!

So far I found the the stereo and the iDataLink Maestro, but does anyone else know what kind of frame and/or extra wires that will be necessary? Also using a Double DIN, will I lose any functionality? I saw a few vids of people having double dins installed and I noticed their heated seat buttons are missing!!

I have a different aftermarket Kenwood double din system - no loss of functionality. Tho other row of BMW buttons that had to move due to double din was just installed lower, just above the center console. Looks like a factory install.

You need to know which of the three stereo systems and which idrive or head

There are side effects depending on options SOS error signal with SOS. No PDC with most
decks except the Dynavin n6 and BMW will not be able to do diagnostics or software updates
without the original head unit or idrive mounted or parallel mounted.

If you have the Logic 7 speaker and amp system the only compatible deck with that speaker amp
system is the Dynavin N6.

If you have an idrive system its better to stick to BMW upgrades so you won't have a dead screen
in the middle of your dash.

I believe dynavin was making a button strip relocation strip for the buttons . Also there is a newer
heater control face the incorportes the seat heater controls.

Holy loads of info! I dont have idrive. Reason im looking to upgrade is i have one of thise monochrome older stereos that lose pixels whrn the car warms up. Bmw wants $1600 for a "new" old ass radio. Figured i can get a fancy touchscreen one with nav for half the price!

If you send it in note the serial no and get the same one back because it is
programmed for the options on your car.

If you want to upgrade the head unit its possible but you have to be carefull about
the side effects and if you have Logic 7(amp speaker package) there is only one Head Unit compatible and that
is the Dynavin N6. Why because the uses a fiber optic interface between the head unit
and amp and Dynavin is the only one that makes a compatible adapter.

You are absolutely right. I also did not have Idrive prior to install, but did have the harmon kardon upgrade. I have the kenwood DNX8910HD (navigation, usb, cd/dvd, ipod, etc); far superior to BMW options. Go for it!

It just give some scum bag a reason to break into your car to steal an aftermarket radio

I replaced my pixel screen for less than 100.00, its easy to do too
