I was a bit zealous in my use of the term "stock." The 2002 definitely has a basically stock engine (as I noted) and stock brakes, but I don't know what he has done to the suspension or whether he was on R compound tires. He is running in FSP, which means he's done some suspension work, but I don't know exactly what.nate328Ci said:
Sure, I don't, right
IT ISN'T about HP, the E36 is a far superior platform than the 2002. Given equal driving, the E36 should destroy a 2002. The 2002 runs in the lowest class at CCA auto-x, class C; our cars are class A and are faster, got it? http://www.houston-bmwcca.com/z3/Autocross/AUTOX_Worksheet.htm
You are really naive if you think that a 2002 with stock suspension can touch even the fat pig that I am driving at auto-x....
Plus, please note my use of the phrase "well-driven." The '02 pilot seemed to have a lot more autox experience than yours truly.
Not sure what your times look like, but this 2002 squeaked by another fast guy in an E46 (i.e., CD-55), so I wouldn't necessarily bet against him in a hypothetical matchup.
PS: CD-55, he and I were working Pole B together during your runs, and he mentioned that he had been benchmarking your times at the TARA short autocross, as well.
