It has been quite a whirlwind over the past month, with the wedding then leaving for Europe the next day. After 3 weeks in 3 countries, we are back at home. I had a hard time getting pictures off the camera without a computer handy. I am working on a detailed write-up of our trip, which took us to Munich, EuropaPark, Menaggio (Lake Como), Gardaland, Venice, Rome, Pisa, Nice, Futuroscope, and Paris. This will come soon I hope, but for now, this is a start. So, without further delay, here are a few delivery pics of my wife's new 2016 X1!

A couple of notes:

We got flashed on a speed camera in a tunnel in Germany. I am expecting a 15kph over limit ticket, but oh well. The cameras were in a lot of tunnels in Germany.

The peppy X1 was eager to exceed the 100mph and 4500rpm limit during break-in, but we did our best to follow that guideline on the autobahn. 100mph cruising was super smooth though, and no excessive noise was noted even with run flats and panoramic moonroof with the fabric cover rolled back.

The regular seats were comfortable for us at 5'8" and 5' for me and my wife. I only felt a minor bit of discomfort at the end of a 6 hour straight haul from Nice to Futuroscope, but that happens to me after that long in any car.

3 full size suit cases could fit snug in the cargo area, hidden from view by the rear deck. I was worried about cargo space if we had another couple join us for the trip, but there would definitely have been sufficient space.

Harmon Kardon stereo is a necessity for audiophiles who don't want aftermarket sound upgrades. We had only heard the basic sound system at local dealers, but when we got out car it was noticeably clearer sound with very decent bass/mids/highs.

Any other X1 specific questions you guys have, I'd be happy to answer since I played with all the gadgets inside.

I am looking forward to hearing about your trip and also your X1 experience. I just received confirmation of an August 26th delivery date on a 2017 X1. We will be mostly in Corsica and Sardinia, but will be spending a short time at two of the places you visited; Lake Garda and Nice where we will be dropping off our car. I hope you will escape getting a ticket, but if not expect it to be written only in German. I got one in Germany last year and payment was accepted with a personal check, although stated payment method was via direct bank transfer.

Oh that's awesome that you have one coming up! The X1 is a fantastic car so I'm sure you will have a great time. Lake Garda was beautiful from the sky high view we got while riding roller coasters. I'd love to go there for some time on the lake. Nice was a nice break to lay on the beach and relax. We were there while the races were going on in Monaco I think, so there were a lot of race fans sporting their gear. We had the suite at the Mercure Hotel, right in the center of all the night life. It was gorgeous there, but do yourself a favor and get some beach shoes to wear in the water. Those pebbles beat up my feet!

Hopefully I don't get a ticket but I'm 75% sure I will since I wasn't blocked by other cars, saw the flash, and was definitely speeding. I should have been paying better attention to my HUD, which I did the rest of the trip. Live and learn...better than getting points on my license back in the states though.
