Just finished my first mod (not counting the window tinting). :bigpimp:

Pics aren't great but you get the idea. Brake lights are LED, but turn signals are not. Hopefully someone will get some decent full LED tails made.

That's completely wrong. You want to emulate an LCI, why not just put an LCI badge on the car too? What about de-mustaching? What about the sideview mirrors too? Trying to fool everyone? Fine, go all the way.

I hate people like you.

BJ, I'm not trying to emulate you. I'm being better than you and an LCI! :p I say my LEDs are BETTER than yours, because mine are for the brake lights, which are much more important than turn signals. Heck, half the population doesn't even use their turn signals, but EVERYONE uses their brake lights!

btw- I have no problem with the mustache. I works just fine for me. I never did understand all that whining.

another btw - My naturally aspirated N52 engine has a three stage induction system and makes 255hp and 220 lb/ft tq. What is it that your little 328i has? :stickpoke

... the best LED implementation I've seen is Cadillac, believe it or not. I like the smooth single panel look as opposed to the lite brite BMW uses.

Forgot to mention earlier - happy to report no error or bulb out messages. I was checking out the lights last night in a window reflection. The brake lights now come on at exactly the same time as the led third brake light. I like that. Before the third brake light always lit up a few milliseconds before the brake lights. So far I am very pleased with the LEDs and I am VERY pleased to have proper amber turn signals!

How much hp does the amber signals add, tturaider?

By the way, nice work. Have you ordered your M-wheel yet?

Am I the only person who doesn't see the difference between the two pics? :dunno:
What's so great about LED tail lights anyway? (besides that they last longer and use less energy....i'm guessing that wasn't the motivation for the mod).

On a side note, I've always like the pre-LCI tail light design better. Made it look distinctive.

Maybe. The pics are not before and after. The first one shows the the turn signal lights off. The second one shows the amber turn signal lights lit as they were flashing.

The design isn't really any different. The light bars are still there as the tail/running lights.

A big motivation (beside liking the way they look) was that the LEDs come on instantaneously and they are brighter and, therefore, hopefully safer.

Joking aside (for a moment at least) the LCI's don't have LED brake lights, just turn signals? Really?

BJ
Really. Sorry.

Looks good, clean car :)
Thanks. Now get those full LEDs on the market and I'll switch.

Nice work. It's suttle modifications that makes the car look nicer and not ricer. Applying a M badge to base model 3er with a factory body kit...well

LEDs are much cooler. If tastefully done that is...they are also brighter and like you said, are less likely to burn out, take less energy to run.

LED's will help slow global warming

those lights are nothing but rebadged toyota lights....

Fun read in the morning before going to study for Finals :)

Would like to! since you're very correct in that the top mounted break light (LED) will light up before the other two by about a second...

but the E92 already has amber turn signals, so that has been making me less motivated, so I came up with a solution! Break really hard each time, so the bright auxiliary break lights come on, those are LEDs aren't they?... easily noticed too, yes, that's the plan! :D

I'm just really glad that the turn signals are now the proper colour.

The thought did cross my mind to rent a car here and switch out the eurotails with mine on the weekend.... :bigpimp:

Tturedraider, do they come with the whole new housing? What brand is it, and where did you buy it? Could you share some relevant info here?

Makes sense, (function > form)
