I have no idea how to remove the actual light bulbs module :( :dunno:

If you have a license light not functioning, it may not be a bad bulb. It could be the entire module (part #16 in the diagram linked in the post above), which includes both license lights and the switch that opens the rear hatch. Check the voltage across the bulb contacts, if you have this problem.

:drive:

I bought a pair of light bulbs, and works fine. But I though that it'll be nice to have LED instead. When I started searching on amazon, ebay, etc. didn't find it with the OEM part n#.
Also, I tried to remove the entire light module to see if it's plug and play like in 2011-2015 x3, so I can buy a "generic" LED module and give a try.

Will any of these bulb numbers cross-reference the OE bulb number you installed?

I am using the 36mm 6-LED bulbs in my 2008 X3 for the license plate lights. I do not know if your year uses the same size bulb as the '08.

Try this link:

Explore it, and, if you will find a set of 12-16 bulbs, then you can replace them all (inside too). Look for description/location of every single bulb then.
Be careful when you remove the cover (from one end only). You don't need to remove the module. And the cover should be quite longer than the length of a bulb.
