I had a low tire pressure light come on last week. I checked my tires and they were fine.
Yesterday, when I had new tires installed, the mech asked about the light and was baffled because he did'nt find any sensors in the wheels. Is anyone familiar with this system and if so ,maybe explain it to me. thanks

The system uses the wheel speed/ABS/DSC sensors to detect differences in rotation speed to determine if you have low tire pressure. This is known as a 'passive' system since it does not directly measure pressure.

Your owners manual (if you don't have one, you can download it - links are in the wiki) has instructions on how to reset/calibrate the system.
