I am in the process of removing the complete loom from my E39. I have disconnected loads of components; lighting, ABS sensors, climate control system, stereo, airbag system.

Two questions;
(1) car is EWS 3, as long as I keep the EWS unit, DME unit, key ring transponder and coded key all together. Is there any other components I need to keep to ensure no EWS immobilisation issues?

(2) I have removed ABS and power steering pumps, will failure of these systems cause the engine to go into limp mode. What commen faults cause the car to enter into limp mode?

engine limp mode is caused by dirty or malfunctioning throttle body, sticking throttle cable, wiring from the throttle body to the dme or the dme itself.
