Just a quick question. What to we have to do as consumers to get BMW to make the ///M sport package available here in the U.S.? Can we all call BMWNA and b*tch and beg, or do we all just have to accept the fact that we cant have it?:( Oh well its not really that big of a deal but its just so damn cool looking. Mabye 2003 :dunno: Just curious on what you all think about it.

It's very cool looking package. I just passed a Topaz M-Sport Pkg equipped coupe on the commute home. Last week, I passed a Silver one. They are very aggressive looking aero package and every time I see one I'm tempted to place an order.

However, the 3.0 is a bit weak IMO to be in such a hot package. If it looks like and M3, they it better act like an M3. NOthing that a 335CI couldn't do! :D

It's just another example of BMWAG's attitude towards the US market. They make strange decisions about what they are going to make available here. Almost all of them effect us negatively too.:thumbdwn:

I agree with you about the looks. The ///M sport pack front end is much better looking than the M aero.

Our cheap gas seems to be costing us a fortune as far as our foreign policy goes. That's one of my motivations for buying a car that can get 30 mpg.

-edit

Not to be a thread drifter -- yes, the M-Sport option would be nice to get, along with some of the other options (interior materials, unbunded package options) available to the rest of the world.

Unfortunately we in the U.S suffers from 2 things:

1) The Atlantic Ocean.

2) We are the second largest market next to Germany.

The fact that we are such a huge market, it makes more sense for BMW to offer options as "packages" to maximize their profit. Can you imagine if the individual program is offered here? I would have optioned out a car with NO package whatsoever. As is, I'm forced to buy the sports package eventhough these aren't the rims I'm looking for (insert Jedi hand jesture here).

And the Premium package is like the most often ordered option on U.S. bound cars. Imagine if you just want the auto-dimming rear mirror, you're forced to order power seats, woodtrim...etc on your car. Every decision BMW AG makes in regards to this market are all based on $$$.

You can get 30 mpg out of your 330? I must drive too fast.

I think one of the reasons why some of the things are not offered in the USA is because of the fact that you guys can cancel an ordered car a few days before delivery. Here we must buy/lease/finance the car we have ordered. Otherwise BMW AG can sue the 'buyer' and demand 20% of the list price of the car.

EDIT : I'm talking about the Individual colors.

I understand the problems they face in dealing with the large market they have here which will limit our choices. I just think they miss the mark on the packaged choices we do get, as in M aero front end instead of ///M sport pack front end with our sport package.

Mostly I'm just jealous of Alex and his access to all the goodies.:D

I'll let you know after I get it next week. :D I seem to recall that you're a young man, maybe around 20? I've found that as I get older (presently 46) that I tend to be more selective about when I go balls out in the car and when I don't. Saves on speeding tickets too.

20? Nope, you must be thinking of someone else. I'm 40. I hear you about the tickets, I mostly go for acceleration and revs over speed.

I'd sign a contract like that if I could order what I want. BMWNA are you listening?

I guess I confused you with someone else. Sorry about that.

My joyride mileage will likely suck. Of course, that's the point. :) Commute mileage should be pretty good with the Bimmer given I am fortunate to have (soon - August) a reverse commute that will result in fairly steady speeds with minimal traffic congestion. Either driving mode will be an improvement over the truck I am presently driving.

Back to the thread, I seem to recall reading here on the fest that US consumer protection laws vis a vis our deposits constrain BMW's ability to offer more options to the US? :dunno:
