Minimum Brake useage

I am showing a warning light fir Minimum Brake MAintenace... I went and bought the replacement brake pads and when I took off the tires and checked the pads... they look practically new. I measured the wear and it was less han an 8th of an inch???? Wh:confused:y the maintencance message?
