Mp3 Player / Cd Changer

I have seen a couple of threads on how to add the alpine mp3 cd changer to the factory HK unit but I noticed some ppl saying that they had the phatnoise system on this forum and e46fanatics. How did you get these systems and how well do they work with the factory system???? I am thinking of adding mp3 playback capability to my factory stereo and looking for the best option.
