Hi all. I've been talking about this in other forums for a while now, but I certainly don't want to neglect you BimmerFest fellows either. Great book.

Will you be able to ship outside the US and what is the charge? Can I use it for my South African BMW model.

This looks awesome!

I'd imagine most of it is applicable to the E46 as well, correct? I have a Bentley manual to cover any differences.

My real problem with the Bentley manual is that it assumes a lot of familiarity with working on cars, which your book doesn't seem to - the Bentley manual would simply say "clean the engine block and pistons", while you spend almost an entire page describing how to do it. This looks like a great complement to it. I'll be ordering one!

Congrats on your book!

Congratulations on your book being finished. Having written some documention for work I know how much time and effort it takes, especially when it's format has lots of graphics and technical jargon to mingle together.

I'm sure it will be a hit with the DIY crowd!

Wayne's Book

Wayne:
Awesome book, ordered it a few days ago. Looking forward to having that as a guide to my other projects.

One question (I hope you read this)

Many of us here and on the bimmerfest and bimmerforum are having a mystery problem that maybe you can help us with. It is the dreaded hesitation when giving the car a lot of throttle. It feels like a miss and will at times buck and at time hesitate and just plain feel like a miss.

There is something wrong going on here and we need your help.

If you can suggest a logical approach to solving this problem and if you have seen it before you will be a hero to all of e36 owners.

It seems to be heat related as well so maybe when the car goes into closed loop it acts this way.

Here is the other forum and both of here and there have huge issues
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=407255

Seems to be a common but frustrating problem and one that MUST be added to your book if you update it in the future.

Sorry if this seems like hijacking your thread Wayne but your book is awesome and we do need your help.

I would be happy to detail all the things I have done to my car to get it to run right as an aid to helping solve this problem too...
Thanks

Well done Wayne. I've ordered the book and reckon it will be the dog's cohonne's for my E36. I'm sure it will save me a heap of bucks that "the stealer" might have otherwise got !

That's 100% correct. Just about everyone has a Bentley - and rightly should, if they are working on their car. As a result of this, I have worked very hard *not* to duplicate any material / information that is in the Bentley manuals, in my book. There should be almost no overlap. I refer people to the Bentley manuals specific to their year car for specific details like the occassional torque spec. I did not want to waste valuable text space repeating information that was already available to many other people.

As for the 5-Series, I've gotten a lot of requests already for a 5-Series specific book. If the 3-Series book sells well, I will probably adapt it into a 5-Series specific book covering E39 and earlier as well...

Sadly, I feel that this is a symptom of greater problems, that may be caused by different things on different cars. The symptom is similar, but the causes are different.

Thanks. I am doing the logical things to solve this dreaded hesitation problem and will post what I find. I am looking forward to receiving the book. I think it is a huge compliment to Bentley.

What do you mean "set the radio codes"? Radio station presets? If you're talking about the security code, you can't change that.
