N20/N26 Timing Chain & Guide Rails Question

My car is a 2014 328i (build date 09/13) with 80k. To my knowledge and according to the good maintenance records, the car still has the original timing chain, guide rails, and other related items. I’m aware that BMW updated the guide rails and chain in response to the overwhelming number of catastrophic failures of these parts. My question is, what is the build date of the first updated versions of the N20/N26 engine to have the new, “improved” timing chain and guide rails?

I’ve heard many different dates from different people. If somebody has rock solid info, preferably with literature from BMW to support said build date, I would be grateful to see it. Thank you in advance☝.

I had a 2014 X1 Xdrive 28i for almost 9 years. Bought it new. It was very reliable. I traded it in this spring on a 2019 CPO 4-Series Gran Coupe. One of the reasons was I had an "old" N20 and it was either have the chain, guides and tensioner done or risk a failure that could mean a new engine. If the one you are considering has the old guides, ask for documentation that they were changed. If not,ask for a price reduction to help pay for the work. The percentage of old N20s that have had this failure is small, but if it happens to you it's a big deal.

Well, I have found a 2015 X1 xdrive 28i that has a production date of 6/15. From what i can tell its an N20 engine without the faulty chain guide and produced before BMW switched away from the rear-wheel drive platform to the front wheel drive platform. Seeing as Model year 2016 X1's were rolling off the production lines in mid to late 2015...does anyone know what month in 2015 the 2016 model year vehicles started to be produced? Also, checking the Vin # on my potential new purchase, I see that it shares the same WBAVL beginning as the 2014s and 2013s. When I look at the 2016 vin #'s they all start with WBXHT. I assume this is a sure fire sign that I am getting the 2013-2015 body style and the slightly more HP engine and the rear wheel drive platform( which is what I want). Can anyone confirm this for me?
Thanks
