NCC Auto-X School

Well, I tried to register too late for the autocross school this weekend. (If only my wife had given birth to our baby girl a week or two earlier I wouldn't have been so distracted and let it slip my mind :) ) The wait list was described to me as impossibly long but I'm still going to go out there to watch and take some pictures/video. It also might be nice to meet some of you. I'll be the guy with the Orient Blue 325xiT parked in the Too-Distracted-To-Register-In-Time paddock area.

Looking forward to Autocross #1 next month.

Cool. We'll see you there. I know TD (black M3/4), CD55 (silver 330Ci), Lil Raja (sorry--not sure what he's driving these days) and I (silver M3C, obviously) will all be there. Feel free to come up and introduce yourself.

I'm really looking forward to it. I've been muddling through past autocrosses with no real instruction, so I'm hoping to learn a lot this weekend.

Yup. I'll be there. I only remembered that it was THIS weekend last night and reminded my wife who didn't seem to recall being told about it the first time. I could have sworn I had mentioned it.

As for registering for NCC events, DO IT EARLY. For every event, they list when registration OPENS. You have to be quick. JST signed up for this Autox School (via email) in the wee hours of the morning while CD-55 and I signed up in the late morning and got some of the last slots. Watch the calendar at the NCC site (www.NCCBMWCCA.org) and make sure to register EARLY.

But I think there will be other spectators from this board going out to watch as well. It'll be a regular Mini-Bimmerfest DC.
We need to start a dedicated NCC forum for ya'll :tsk:

Strangely, the three metro areas with the largest representation on these boards are DC, LA and SF.

Why is that strange? :dunno:

I'm suprised that there aren't more people here from Houston though :dunno:

Or Dallas for that matter. I think there's more from Austin than Houston or Dallas here.

Or even San Antonio...

Houston has so many BMWs, it is a big suprise :dunno:

JST, CD-55-

I never received any specific info on this weekend.

Do we need to bring our helmets?

I didn't get anything other than the confirmation e-mail. I'm sure we do need to bring helmets (I imagine they'll have loaners, too). I think the web site said lunch will be provided, but it probably makes sense to bring water/snacks as well. According to the web site, start time is at 9, so I guess I'll try and get there around 8:30 or so (ugh, on a Sunday, the things we do for fun).

For the Drivers School, I made it out to Summit Point both weekend days by 7am. This meant leaving the house by 5:45 am.

As you said, "the things we do for fun..."

Raja stopped by my house Monday to watch me install a wheel, then he had to go pick up his new S2000. Of course he still has the '02 330Ci. I am not really sure which one he will be bringing Sunday. His brother will be there with the '95 M3. I do not know if his brother is in the class or just watching this weekend.

CLYDE, I will see you there! Nice sig pic, not taken around here I guess?

Thanks. Part of it was taken in front of my house. The other part comes from a stock photo. Guess which is which ;)
