Hi all,

I have a manual tran 2002 325i that has been working well recently.

However, the other day when my wife went to start it, no go. :thumbdwn:

I've recently replaced the battery but I thought I would check that it was charged. The voltage was low so I fully charged it.

Still no go.

Dash lights are on but when turning the key I get no starter sound.

Some further info. There have been times when I have my winter floor mats in and the mat gets too high and impedes the clutch pedal being pushed down far enough to allow the engine to start. I currently have those mats out but it seems like the problem is similar.

My suspicion is that the problem is the clutch pedal switch but I'm unsure.

Does anyone know how to diagnose what in the starter chain could be failing (starter? clutch pedal switch? something else?)

If it is a clutch pedal switch, is this a DIY job, any suggestions where I can find this part, and recommended plan of attack?

Thanks.

Doug

Turns out it was a dead key. I just found a discussion about this in a different thread.

I tried a second key I had around and the car started. Yes!
