Anyone get it yet?

It has a write up on the one series diesel. They make no claims if a one or two series is comming though.

Not sure why the hell they would do the write up if something close isn't comming.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I read it and was also confused why they chose to do a minitest on it. The best quote was "it's cloiser to the Ultimate Driving Machine ideal than BMWs costing twice its price." Needless to say, they were pretty impressed.

Funny though, as Top Gear seems to think the 1 is pointless (in this review, it was the 130 variant). Four doors, but no useful back seat or "boot". Why not get a Z4 is the general sentiment.

What's pointless is listening to Top Gear's opinion on BMWs. ;)

True- those guys are true BMW haters! They're just jealous because currently, their country they can't produce a car that's as driver oriented and as fun to drive as a BMW.

I think it's just Clarkson who hates BMWs. Certainly EVO and CAR (both superior magazines) love BMWs.

it's ok, I still love the Top Gear show (though the magazine sucks).

You guys have to keep things within their perspectives, though. BMW released the 1 in Europe into the 'hot-hatch' market, in which Top Gear is right to say it's waaaayyy too expensive for a hatch that's less practical than something like a Golf GTI/R32 or a Focus ST.

Over here in the States, we only have two markets: SUVs and things that go fast. The 130 fits in the latter without any problem at all.

Hah, did you see the episode on the new Rolls? He seemed really ticked that Rolls is no longer British owned.

Yeah, I did and was laughing at the fact that he was so disgusted with the fact that BMW designed it! :D

I disagree- I don't need to view it from their perspective, cause I'm not living in their country. BMWs are expensive- if you don't like them because of that negative aspect, then don't disregard everything else that's great about them- driver engagement, control, feel, styling, and most important- fun to drive! Besides, I just drove an A3 2.0 that came to 30 grand with a few options- and it doesn't have a silky smooth 265 hp powerplant!

You're right, I think it is only Clarkson and the show is pretty cool.

Well, they were comparnig it to the VW Golf R32, which, is not available in the US, at present. Well, I couldn't find it on their "Build and Price" pages earlier in the week. Their recommendation was to go with the VW over the 130i.

They also said that it really depends on what you're looking for- They're both great cars with their own different "feel."

Okay, I'll give you those THREE compared to BMWs 328Ci, 330Ci, M3, 540i, M5, 645i, 650i, M6, 745i, 750i, 760i, 130i, some of the the Mercedes AMG models and how about the Audi S4, RS4, RS6, S8. Oh yeah, there's also the A3, VW GTI and R32. I think the English are sadly outnumbered when it comes to great driver's cars, but that's just my opinion.

Porky and pricey (for a VW), but looks cool as heck. Wonder what the market is for used ones.
