Hello! I've been googling my problems and i must say find myself here a lot. You guys seem knowledgeable and as friendly as Pennock Fieros forum members (and they really are a great bunch as well).
Fun story, though (problems down bottom if anyone doesnt feel like a badly typed story). I was looking to buy my first imported car... My other car sucks up gas and I wanted something small and sporty that was still good on fuel. So I went in search of a Miata. I came to a quick realization that I see them everywhere now that I was looking and having gotten used to the exclusivity of my other cars (which aren't fantastic, but not seen often) I was doubting my want for it. I came across a dealer that had a 01 Z3 3.0i next to a 01 Miata/MX-5. Both automatic unfortunately, but at least the Z3 had the option to pull it to manual. The prices were largely diff of course, but I talked it down even with the MX-5. Of course there was a good reason for the price drop.
The top is electric, goes down, but doesn't fold as flat as possible. I dunno how low it's supposed to go, but it goes just below or level with the seat roll bar things. The motor doesn't cut off while pushing the down button which makes me believe it's not going flat enough.
Second issue I have is a central locking/keyless entry issue. I've been reading around, my issues may be to the fuel door lock actuator not working properly. Doors and trunk locks with key in the door, everything except the fuel door basically. That being said I've checked all the fuses and they're all good. Would the fuel door actuator stop the car from syncing with the key and make the keyless lock and unlock stop functioning? How bout the panic button on the fob (which also doesn't work). The car makes no audible noises when pressing everything. I've followed the instructions to the T when matching it to the car so that's not it. Guess what I'm asking is actuator or transmitter what do we think?
Third, someone did install an after market stereo, badly installed. I hooked everything up (properly) to a new one, not sure if that would effect the keyless or alarm or not, but I did notice a fuse in a small black rectangular plastic harness with 2 black wires mounted to the car behind the stereo. What's this go to?
And fourth, also under the radio it seems theres a black auxiliary plug plugged into a female equivalent, next to the annoying beepy noise maker and another plug that resembles a slide on TV cable connector or CB antenna connector (I know it's not for those, but just giving an idea of the shape)
Any help on these mysterys I can't figure out would be greatly appreciated.
