New transitioner from bimmer.org Question for Jon Schafer (or anyone)

I went to my dealer last week and was looking at a convertible. Among the options for this particular one was the auto transmission. But it was listed like this:

Automatic Transmission (CVT) $1295

Does this mean that the 3 series now has a CVT transmission? I saw the post over at bimmer.org, but I didn't quite get the answer. If this "CVT" does not mean continuously variable transmission, then what does it mean? I know for a fact that I definitely saw the letters "CVT" in parenthesis after the auto trans. and before the price.

You know - he's right!

I just looked at the Monroney label of a 325i that just came in, and it read: automatic transmission (CVT)... It most definitely is not a "continuously variable transmission"... I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean. There have been several cases of misprints in the past. Most recently (last summer), we received 2001 3-Series cars that (mistakenly) stated: "bi-xenon" headlamps. Bi-xenons started with the '02's...

What Audi's new slogan?

"Never Follow"...

I don't think BMW is like to follow Audi either. SMG is BMW's newest direction, but hey, you just never know...

A hardtop convertible, like the SLK? I doubt it, but again, you never know.

The optional removable hardtop is pretty cool though!

The verdict is in.....

The Monroney labels that say "CVT" are wrong!
