As expected it will be called Z4. There is no data sheet available at the moment.

Gentlemen, gentlemen... Do you not see the magnificence of this design? It speaks volumes about the ambitions of the owner. The long, protruding nose emulates the long appendage most of it's buyers will not have. The taut butt, likewise. It's all about dreams and ambitions and fantasy.

And where are my sight-impaired E65 loyalists to defend this masterpiece. I'm talking about those lovely guys who appended "Advocate of the E65" to their forum "signatures" as a display of affection for me and my work. They must be sleeping in today because I know they'd be rabidly glorifying this work were they here.

Ah well. At least Chris and I were able to "persuade" Helmut (aka "Hanke Panke") to approve it for production.

Tchuss,

oh man...the cleaners in the office surely hate me by now. I bet its a pain cleaning my puke out of the waste basket every day I see a new BMW design. Oh and the amount of puke today is sure going to be a Guiness record holder... excuse me.... BLECH!!!! ....now where's that puke smilie....

Although I agree with JST that the CS1 looks a whole lot better to me now. Especially the front...never really hated it in the first place. But still don't like the beltline running around and the back at all.
Holy RX-7 Batman!!!!!

When did BMW start designing cars with Mazda?

The trunk makes no sense. They just had to put a ridiculous bulge in it for no reason. Its as if the designers were looking at the car and thought "Hmm, its good but its not quite ugly enough...what can we do....ahh we'll just ad a useless hump in the middle of the trunk, yes that should complete the uglification process nicely" We've read how BMW has a team for haptics and sound engineering. I wonder if there's now a dedicated team at BMW devoted to "Banglefication." They take perfectly good designs and append wierd flame surfaces, bumps and humps. All of the computer enhanced spyshots pretty much got the front end and sides right-- but nobody guessed what horror Bangle would unleash at the rear. I know some of you are offended by the front and sides- but given the cs1 and e65- they're not so bad. But the trunk tops even the e65.

BTW, just a little reminder, this was one of the best computer enhanced pics of the 'new' Z3

Nowhere near ugly enough to be a BMW.

And this defamation of my work comes from someone whom I see drives an E36. A car that was all about function with no attention to art. How crude.

We now seek to design art. Apparently this is not something you have any comprehension of.

There are enough enlightened souls out there who do appreciate our art that we do not need you.

Good day.

Is this for real? Look at the rear lights... they dip into the bumper just like the new RSX. The front doesn't look *that* bad... but the rear... what's up with the rears nowadays? First the E65, now the Z.

Spartanburg did not offer plant tours for a while, I guess they were busy retooling for the next Z.
It still looks heavily camoflaged. I wouldn't be surprised if the rear looks nothing like it does in the picture... The front and side look fairly consistent with artist renderings and photoshop jobs, and the rumored "Flame Surfaced Z" on the side of the car is clearly visible now.

I'll definately be picking up a 2nd year production model for a weekend car lease later. :)
Anyone happen to catch that video that Animeboy (I believe that's his handle...Drives a black ///M Coupe I think) posted with the new Z4 blasting around the Nurburgring? That thing had ZERO roll as it zoomed by sharp corners and is flat as a Britney Spears before surgery.

Did I mention I'll be picking one up in two years? :D :D :D :D :D

There should be deep pricing discounts, anyway. Remember that kit someone developed that made a Miata look like a Z3? Maybe someone will develop the reverse for the Z4.

:yikes: What did they do to that trunk?!?!? I actually like the way the rest of the car looks. But that rear! What does Bangle have with ugly, fat asses?:tsk:

I totally agree. I'd buy that, but that ugly thing they're going to offer the general public is awful. If remember correctly the front pic of the same car (pictured above) looked pretty good too.

It seriously looks like my BMW days are coming to an end. :bawling:
Its also sad when every hack computer artist on the internet or in car magazines comes up w/ better looking design guesses than BMW's designers can manage. The red computer enhanced Z3 that Alex Bauman posted is almost gorgeous-- the real thing is pretty hideous. What on earth are they smoking? I"m beginning to think Bangle must be accepting bribes from other car manufacturers to approve these designs.
What on earth are they smoking?
Adrian van Hooydonk must be smoking Bangles pole. :yikes:

Sometimes one must employ whatever means necessary. The designs ARE getting approved, are they not.

I won't tell you what I had to do to get the E65 approved.

Honkydonk is the boyfriend of Chris Bangle and he was in charge of the exterior design of the E65.
