Does anyone know what the cost of the trunk mounted NAV unit costs now? (That will provide some indication of the cost to upgrade it to the DVD unit next year!)
I believe the Mark III computer is approximately $500. The drive is another $300 I think. I would guess the next computer would be a Mark IV, and a DVD drive, so I'm guessing $1000 for the trunk components (assuming all the other harnesses stay the same).

Al, do you know who manufactures the Mark computers ?

EDIT: I think I found it. IBM ?
I think it's VDO.

Al, have you seen this ? I think it's cool.

VDO NAV
Very cool. I heard rumors that the earlier navs were Philips Carin. A lot of nice aftermarket options out there.

Al, I still think you should persue putting the Japanese Alpine computer in, given the data DVDs are more or less universal somehow. It uses the same widescreen monitor you just put in.
Got a Japan parts CD? :) I bet you're right... they couldn't possibly vary too much anyway.

BTW, forgive my ignorance but what is a XM Radio ?
Satellite based radio. Subscription based. You might have heard of Sirius radio? Same idea.
