Hi all,

I just picked up my 2014 X3 35i. Spent a day to wash, clay and Zaino it. Now I have question about audio connection to the phone. I didnt' order Navi or tech package. So I only have this tiny screen which is smaller than the iPad mini :p

My question is how can I connect iphone 5 audio to the car? I thought I can play tunes or podcast through the USB port. But it keeps saying it is not connected with an OEM iphone 5 cable. It charges fine, but no audio. The car also come with one of these old style usb+audio jack splitter cable.

Thanks
Will

paired the phone for "phone" feature, but there's no bluetooth streaming. I thought BT streaming only comes with the "enchanced BT" option which only comes with the Navi/ZTP?

You need to have the tech package to play music via Bluetooth. Without the tech package the car's Bluetooth is just good enough for making calls

If you have a USB + AUX receiver combo, you can use a BMW branded USB Cqble (available at dealership). This Y cable plugs into BOTH the USB and AUX ports and has a 30 pin iPhone connection.
Use a lightning to 30 pin adapter on that, and the phone will show up in your "external devices" list for audio. You'll be able to play and control via the radio.

You can also use the BMW Y Cable paired with this:

And, after selecting the AUX port as your input (still needs to be connected to AUX AND USB), you'll be able to stream from your phone (with no control or music info on your radio).

OK... "solved" after RTFM.

Hmm... no, not all BMW have the fancy feature, which I think it should come with all BMWs. I really think BMW should up on the standard options. After all, you can find a a Prius or a Kia has these toy features (don't flame me, yes BMWs are better cars).

So, an old ipod didn't work with white cable either. Now my 2014 car has 10years old technology of using a Y cable. It only works with a Y cable because I didnt' order the tech pkg with 2014 and the "enhanced BT and USB" cannot be ordered separatedly with 2014. :dunno:

Again, since the Y Cable is working for you, buy the product I linked on amazon. It will at least get you wireless streaming.
