Well...after trying 20 different "fixes", I decided to take my ride into the dealership to address the tapping sound in the driver's side C pillar area. I let them know what I had tried to fix it and also mentioned that a few of us had a rear shock mount replaced. They replaced the mount and no more noise! This noise really annoyed me and made my driving utter hell for the last 4 months.

yea, after 2 weeks of that rattling I couldn't take it anymore. I had an idea it was the shock mounts by reading other's posts, and the dealer replaced my left/rear one. No more rattling. Glad you got it fixed too.

Does anybody know if an E46 M3 RSM will fit a non-M car?

If you are going to go up to M3 RSMs, they wont last much longer then regular ones. If you want a permanent solution, go aftermarket. I recent swapped out all my shocks/struts... went with JT-Design. My m3 rsms went poof after a year or so. Mucho squeaking and moaning.

Yeah, but it'll only last about 2x as long. Ask me how I know.

I'm planning on putting RE ones in a month or so.

How about the E46 M3 cab with a Z3 reinforcing plate?
That used to be standard E36 M3 fare...

I'm only asking because I'm sure I could get the dealer to swap for BMW parts and only pay a small price difference.
