hi all,

I have just got a GB 2004 3181 SE.

At the weekend I plugged my (previously working!) TomTom into the cigarette lighter, programmed up a route and set off. After about 2 mins I noticed an acrid burning smell coming from said lighter socket, stopped and found the TomToms recharging socket melting in the hole!

My TomTom works ok in my wifes car, Or did until it melted.

Is the lighter socket in the BMW non standard? Or is it or the TomTom cable broken?

The socket is standard but it sounds like you have a short somewhere.
