Totally disappointed today when I received an email from BMW that while my X3 35i video was ready, they had not actually been able to capture my car being built. Instead I got a generic video of how the X3 is built.

I was really looking forward to the video of my actual car. Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited as can be to get the X3 in my driveway, but really wanted to see if being built.

Was wondering how many others have had the same experience?

That's a bummer but once you get the car in hand you'll probably forget about the video.

I got lucky, all 7 cameras were working.

My theory is if one (or more) of the cameras was off in a video, it means there was a problem at that point with the assembly of the vehicle and they do not want the customer to see some worker banging on your car to get the part into place. I assume this is why the cameras are only at places where robots are doing the work so you don't see the workers sweating all over your car and possibly not doing a good assembly job.

It's a theory anyway...

a ridiculous one at that...believe me, BMW does not have the least interest in hiding something on the line...BMW Mfg, LLC is a totally separate company from BMWNA marketing/sales or any one that could make that decision to go dark for a single car or a stream of cars...

I got my video and it had 2 camera's down...Got a shot of 5 others.....I wish there was more,
but it is more than they offered a couple years ago. I would call it a step in the right direction.

LMAO...classic. I got my video last week...it's pretty cool actually and I'm glad they did it. You get to see your vehicle in a way never possible before...like where the chassis meets the drivetrain...very cool.

There was one camera down when they finished my X3...and it was the final camera that shows "your X3 driving off on it's power for the first time"...so then I guess per this thread my X3 has some trouble starting and they had to drag it away before the one behind it crashed into it driving off!! lmao..

Don't be silly. it was your driving style. BMW's transmission not only learns your driving habits it anticipates them.

Probably a good looking employee strolling by and your BMW down shifted and pre-braked.

Being in a politically paranoid society the workers erased that portion of your video for your own safety.

Do we all receive the video or it's a special request or something???
My car's manufacturing is scheduled this week. So is this something I need to ask my dealership now or it is too late? (Canada)

The "roll-off" camera (#7) was down for my video also, and while that would have been nice to see - I think they have done a great job with these videos. I hope you didn't expect a full production video of your specific car... be realistic. This is a great little keepsake and a fun way to really enhance the order excitement at the final stretch. Whoever thought this up should get a huge bonus.

Agree 100% on all points... funny at first I was pissed that the "your x3 driving off under it's own power for the first time" camera was down, but in reality I'm glad it was that one b/c I'll see the x3 every day like that...it's more impt to me to see it with the doors off and no drivetrain etc..
