Check Engine light came on
was at dealership car warranty is up in 1K miles
They called out a O2 Sensor. and updated software per a bulletin

When asked why didn't they replace O2 sensor seeing as though it was called out and update software as well. The service advisor says they need to follow the process called out in bulletin (this is a warranty item ) guess BMW drive the repairs not the dealership.

I disagree especially if my warranty is close to being up.

Anyway wanted to share this and see if anyone has been in this scenario.

Have a good day .. keeping my fingers crossed.

Oxygen sensor is covered by emission warranty which has different terms from the new car warranty. It is actually state specific. For cars sold in CA any part of emission control equipment is covered for either 8 or 10 years if I remember correctly - that is catalytic convertor, oxygen sensors, etc.

well so much for the dealers following the plan and not changing out the O2 sensor as called out.
check engine light is back again, because they followed the plan and only did the Software update and not both items. guess my time is of no value to them and should cost me another $50 for visit.. this trip back will be interesting this week
