So riddle me this Bimmerfest, what happens when the 6 or so button OBC on a 1994 318i goes dark, although the actual buttons themselves are lighted up when the headlight knob is switched on. Could it be something as simple as just a fuse? i've had problems with my I cluster before and all it took was a fuse so that's what i'm thinking. Thanks!

little lite bulbs

If you were to take the obc out of its mount. On the back you should see 3 bulb carriers. twist them out and test the bulbs. They usually fail.

Ok, do i need any sort of special tool for pulling it out, or can i just pull it out kinda by hand and it wont come off the harness?

Reach into the sunglasses pocket below the OBC. There's a hole on the top of that pocket, dead center. You can stick your index finger in there and push the OBC out pretty easily.
