If you just want OBD codes, you could use the Dashdaq PC software. I have used it before, not incredible but functional nonetheless. Depending on how your cable was made, it may not work on many cars though. If they created a true ISO protocol cable, then it will work on most Japanese and European cars. If it is was just made an ethernet pass-thru, then it will only work on a select few cars.


Keep in mind that software will just get you OBD codes; not BMW hex codes. Finding a version of ISTA would be your best bet for that, but crosses into pretty dark territory in terms of legality.
