okay im getting confused, about to klasse my car

alright, im hearing all different kinds of stories...so im about to klasse my car...http://www.properautocare.com/klasse.html

using the above, AIO and SG. now im reading over at autopia that once the SG is applied then theres a consequence that you can wont be able to get it off until it wears off?? i mean, wont my next car wash, 'wash' away the AIO and SG..(i will be using zymol's car shampoo, btw.) so i can start step 1 again? someone wanna clear this up for me?

where am i lost? or is all this just for the real detail freaks out there???

okay, so i'm taking the klasse plunge too and had similar questions... here's what i found:

if you AIO and SG, yes a regular or even dawn wash wont strip it all the way down. you can apply AIO to remove SG or an alcohol (or alcohol/water) mix to strip. you can also use a paint cleanser (e.g. p21 paint cleanser) to strip. most people at autopia do a super prep job so once they klasse, they really dont strip and start over unless they have too.

here is the thread i asked on autopia about it
geez, my prep job is just using soap and water then dry....:( :bawling:
most ppl here and most definately everyone there at autopia do more than wash and dry. WAY more. the mod here, ripsnort, has a very good detailing schedule. do an archive search at autopia or ask for ppl to post their detailing procedures. you will be able to compare... the ppl at autopia are fanatical, but their cars look good
Here's a suggestion:

Do this twice a year. Once in the spring and once in the fall.

1. Shampoo
2. Clay
3. Remove swirls (if necessary)
4. Klasse AIO
5. Klasse SG (3 coats of this stuff will look awesome)
6. optional: Top your Klasse with your favorite carnuaba wax. Make sure the wax is a pure wax with no cleaning properties.

Claying and swirl-removal as well as AIO will all remove existing Klasse and wax. Do this twice a year and you'll be stripping your Klasse twice a year.

As Eugene said, some Klasse users do not strip twice a year (hehe). Instead, they layer indefinitely and spot-remove swirls and spot clay as needed to remove any embedded contaminants which come through normal driving.

For indefinite Klasse SG layering, just follow the same procedure as above, except once you are finished with step five you can keep layering a coat of SG or carnauba wax whenever you feel like it (but not interchangeably! Just one or the other).

Polymers like Klasse and Zaino provide a buffer against swirls. Sometimes you can get a swirl in your sealant layer and NOT your clearcoat. This can be easily fixed by adding a coat of Klasse SG. Klasse and other polymers provide a much better 'sacrificial' layer than do traditional waxes.

If you get a scratch on your car that goes through the SG, then spot remove it with an abrasive product and then Klasse right over it again once the imperfection is removed.

Okay to use some Meguiars products

Good Post Intermezzo -

I'm looking at doing some stuff with Klasse for the first time so I had a couple of questions:

1) for the clay and swirl removal steps, are there any certain products that have to be used or can Meguair's (or other) clay kit and ScratchX be used?

2) I'll have to check, but Meguiar's Gold Class liquid wax should be okay for the carnuba step?

The best clay I have used is Clay Magic, which is sold at Autozone stores (check the larger stores......the smaller stores don't seem to have CM). The clay magic kit comes with the lube and only costs $10. I also hear good things about Griot's clay w/ speedshine. I haven't tried the meguiar's clay, but I hear it streaks all over your car and leaves a mess.

ScratchX is only to be used for spot-removal of surface imperfections. It's not the type of product that you use to your entire car. The type of polish you should use will also depend on how badly your car is swirled up. For light swirls, I would use 3M SMR or Meguiar's #9 with a PC machine. For heavier swirls, you should use something like 3M Finesse-It 2 Machine Polish. Your best bet would be to do a search under the keyword phrase "swirl and removal" (or several variations of it) at this link: Search

Actually, I wouldn't recommend Gold Class wax because it contains mild cleaners in it. A better choice would be Meguiar's #26. My two favorite non-cleaning waxes are One Grand Blitz and P21S Carnauba.

How does the AIO work on swirls

Reading the product description on AIO, it says it removes swirl marks.

Any experience on how well that works?
It only removes very light swirls. It's more suited towards removing any micro-swirls caused by stronger polishes.
Hopefully, I will be applying Klasse for the first time this weekend.

QUESTION: Can anyone reccommend which Quick Detailing spray is good to use once I have Klassed my car?

In one of the on-line nstructions, they say to use a squirt of Eagle-One Wet Wipe & Shipe as you are applying the Klasse so I am guessing that would be "OK" to use afterwards?
perhaps Mequiar's

Good luck this weekend. I think I got a message from alee recently (to many messages to remember them exactly) and he didn't have an absolute recommendation, but he thought the Meguiar's Quick Detailer Mist might be okay.
thanks Scott

yeah I have a super-old sample size bottle of Meguirs Quik (Wax) Spray that I have been using at night after I do my Calif. dustering(?).

I'll let ya know how the Klasse goes (on & off).

good luck
Yup, E1 Wet works fine with Klasse. If you are going to use a QD to aid in Klasse application, I wouldn't use anything other than E1 Wet or Meguiar's #34 because they do not contain any carnauba(does Griot's Speed Shine contain any carnuaba?).

For general maintenance, you can use any QD you wish....even if it contains carnauba. Washing your car right before applying a coat of KSG will pretty much remove whatever small amount of carnauba (if any) is still left on your car from using a carnauba-based QD earlier in the week.

Just a clarification. Meguiar's Quik Detailer and Quik Wax are two different products. Quik Wax contains carnuba while Quik Detailer does not. I'm not a Klasse user, but I believe that you need to avoid carnuba based products if you plan to layer on additional coats of SG.
Your right!

I have the "Detailer" (I said it wrong)

One plainly states that it contains Carnuba, The Eagle one Wet wip n' shine does not mention carnuba either.
