The problem you will run into is the new model changeover. Production of 2002s stops in August, and 2003s start in September. If you figure 4-6 weeks from the time your car is produced until the time your car is delivered, if you get one of the first build slots you may have your car by mid- to late October. In all honesty, though, the early part of November is probably more likely.

You'll want to get your order in as soon as your dealer will take it, but keep in mind that dealers are likely to be less flexible on price with orders taken prior to the start of production than with orders taken later. You may save some money if you can wait and order in September/October with a late November delivery date.

From the beginning of production until it's at the port waiting to be shipped to the U.S., it takes about 3 weeks. But then it takes 4 weeks to ship it from Germany to the U.S., and it can take even longer if it's built in South Africa.

I think they still build all of the coupes in Regensburg, and only build 325 sedans in Rosslyn, SA, but my info may be out of date.

I ordered my 2002 325i July 30th or 31st, 2001. I picked it up at the dealership October 11, 2001. I believe they start putting the orders in the first of August. Mine was built in Germany, so it arrived at the dealership much sooner than an African built model.

Your dealer will know where your car is being built. From the other posts, it looks like only 325i sedans are being built in Africa. Again just ask your dealer to be sure. Congratulations!
