The OSV sits on the back of the manifold and just has a valve in it that regulates the pressure of the manifold...
The actual oil seperator sits down inside the front of the engine. As far as I know, you have to remove the timing cover/timing chains to remove this. I had it replaced when I had the headgasket done on my car...

Item you are talking about is number 1 in this diagram and sits at the front of the engine...
