Got a problem with the old commuter car....1986 325ES

Seems that the temperature guage is reading more than half these days. The water pump is fairly new (6 months old), new thermostat, new fan clutch, cap holds pressure and there are no leaks.

I notice this mostly on the highway going uphill. The gauge does jump a bit and I thought it might be innacurate (classic gauge issue) but I am inclined to believe the tep is running higher than half. The reason being that when I slide the heater to fully on and turn on the climate control fan, the temperature gauge goes to half, most of the time.

Turning the A/C switch on, even though A/C doesn't work does not change anything.

I can only assume that the radiator is getting plugged up.

Should I flush it out or put in a new one given that it's 19 years old to date?

the temp gauge in my e30 bounces around. theres some electrical issue that I have yet to track down.

that being said, as long as it isn't in the red i wouldn't worry too much. flushes are easy.
