Paint problem

1268 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  The HACK
I had a small bird dropping on my roof the other day, nothing serious and no damage was done since I got rid of it quickly.

I used clean cold tap water which I carelessly left on the car - in the sun. This left some serious water spots that I just can get rid of. Its like the edges of the water spots are etched into the clear coat.

What do I do?

50/50 mix of vinegar and water. Rub the affected spots gently with a cotton towel dipped in the solution. Let it sit for a little, and then rinse. Repeat as necessary.
Re: Already tried that - but no effect at all.

Next step would be to try using clay. Keep the area well lubricated with car wash solution, and glide the clay back and forth over the affected areas.
Re: How exactly does this clay work?

I am worried that the edges of the spots have actually etched the paint.
If it didn't sit that long, I think all the paint needs is a good quality cleansing. You may find that it will clear up a bit by itself as well.
