Part # request, sorry

1650 Views 20 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  ronrich
At bimmer.org I have seen many different part #'s for the bumper strip that replaces the license plate frame. I need to figure out the actual one so I can order from circle or pacific.

My car:

2002 325iT

I am not sure if this matters but it has the sport package. But the wagons do not come with the different front bumper so not sure if same part number.

I assume the part # for a 2002 325i without sport package is the same though.

TIA
Jeff

Should be the same part used to replace the 2001 models.

51 11 8 195 304
Thanks but this is my problem, someone on bimmer.org posted

part# 51 11 7 030 611

which is different then yours.

I have been trying to verify the part # via

http://www.circlebmw.com/parts/price.htm

but none of them pop up.

I guess I will call Circle but I figure they probably dont know either. That's why I was hoping someone who has a 2002 with similiar setup and has done it replies.

part# 51 11 7 030 611 refers to the euro plate holder for the 330i bumper.

Mine is correct.

You're a stand up guy IMO:thumb: Appreciate all the help you give out here to every one:D
That's a whole lotta parts just for the front of the car. :D
Yea, Vince thanks for the help.

Well some of the parts are interchangeable. For instance you can choose either 9, 7, 12 or 5. And 2, 3 or 4. :D

Now I wonder why they all these different configurations...

I'm still wondering if 31st330i is still on his quest for air ducts on the sport package front cover. :D

I sense that his quests are sort of like your detailing.............never ending:dunno: :D
I too have a 2002 330i with the Sport Package. I ordered part # 51-11-8-195-304 and it is not correct. It is much too long and clearly not the correct piece. Can anyone confirm if part# 51 11 7 030 611 is correct? :dunno:
What do you mean much too long?

If the strip is just a little longer than the gap between the two side strips, you have to push the strips asid, insert middle piece and push the two side strips back in the middle.

Looking at the schematic that Vince posted above, it is the correct part #.

Now you know why the E46 weighs a ton. :)

The schematic must not be correct for the 2002 Sport package. After calling Pacific BMW, they confirmed that it is in fact not correct. The piece they sent (part # 51-11-8-195-304) will not fit, even if you push the 2 side strips out of the way. Part # 51-11-8-195-304 is about 2x longer than it needs to be and has plastic clips all the way across the back of it. If you were to move the side strips out of the way and attempt to install the middles piece (if it were to even fit) there wouldn't be any place to reattach the side strips.

Pacific BMW is sending part# 51 11 7 030 611. I'll post if this is correct.

P.S. - The schematic says it is for pre 9/01 build cars. Mine is a 2002, 3/02 build.

Update, I got part # 51-11-7-030-611 (Front Bumper Rubber Strip). It too is incorrect for a 2002 330i with the sport package. This piece is the correct size; however, the clips on the back side are in the wrong locations. They don't even come close to lining up with the slots on the bumper that they are supposed to go into.

Has anyone actually replaced the bumper strip on a 2002 330i with the one without a license plate frame? Apparently the piece is slightly different from the 2001 piece.

jdlsc,

Sorry to hear that strip doesnt fit. It fit fine for my sport package 2002 325iT, see this link

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5834

The 325iT sport package does not change the front like your 330i sport package so I guess there must be another part number for your car. When searching around I only heard of the 2 part numbers you listed and you tried them both.:(

good luck

Thanks for the sympathy. :D

At first glance, it does look like part # 51-11-7-030-611 would fit; however, when you take the piece off and look at the tabs that are hidden when it is installed, they are clearly in different locations. I'd post a pic if I had a digital camera. :(
While picking up my car at the dealer I inquired about the strip. They said they had it and my dealer tried to install it. Guess what, it doesnt fit. And that was the xxx-304 part number.
Ronrich,

# 51-11-7-030-611 should fit your car if the sport package does not modify the front of your car. I think only the 330i is changed? so your 325i might be ok.

Attached is the only pic I have with our wagon with no bumper. If your front is the same it should work. Thank Shinobi for the pic.
