I recently decided to take delivery of my car at the SC Performance Center.

I'm the first person at my dealership to do this, so my Client Advisor isn't too knowledgable about the program. In fact he faxed me the reservation form , and I had to fax it to South Carolina.

My main concern is that my car is a week 12 build (next week), and I want to make sure that BMW AG will be notified in time to ship the car to SC instead of NY.

I'd also like to know when I should expect to receive available dates from SC about when I can schedule delivery.

I've read about people's experiences and know what to expect when I get down there, but I'd like to know from anyone who has done this what to expect over the next few weeks until my car had shipped from Germany. Thanks!

First thing's first, you shouldn't be doing any faxing or setting up of any type of reservation. If your 'client advisor' isn't knowledgeable, you need to find the sales manager or someone who is.

I am picking up my car next Friday in Spartanburg and the only thing I had to do was confirm my travel plans with my 'delivery specialist' at the Performance Center.

I signed my final papers tonight and believe me, there is plenty that needs to be communicated from your dealer to the prep/delivery team in Spartanburg. The only things I'm bringing are my girlfriend, an overnight bag, floormats, and my temp tag. My dealer has handled everything else along with guys in SC.

Being that I had such a seamless process, I really don't know what to tell you to look out for. I do recommend, correction, I insist, that you speak to someone a bit higher up at the dealership. If they don't know, they need to find out by calling another dealership that has experience with PC deliveries.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations. Good luck!

Well, I talked to the sales manager at my dealership, and he wasn't too helpful either! I asked him about date confirmations, floor mats, add ons (M-Technik) being done by prep team in SC...

He wasn't too helpful. He said they usually only communicate w/SC by fax, and didn't think they could do much in SC as far as dealer installed options. He also said that I should wait a week or so before I expect my date options. He, like my sales advisor, seemed to know next to nothing about this program. I asked if I was the first at this dealership, and he said no! It also seemed as if they didn't really want to deal with me anymore since I already ordered my car. Maybe it is just the mindset of this dealership in general, and not just for PCD. Oh well.

I was able to get in contact with the delivery team down in SC. Boy were they extremely professional and helpful! I was able to confirm a date within an hour of calling them, and got all my questions answered right away. I'm set for delivery on May 2nd.

Now all I have to do is decide on the M-Technik front bumper or to stay stock...

BMW Gallery of Norwood.

I must admit I'm getting a good deal on the 330, and their service on my 323 has been decent the past 2.5 years. And they always have nice loaner cars available.

It's just frustrating that I get (IMO) poor sales support, especially as this is my second new car from this dealership in 3 years. I am also responsible for another family member getting their car from this dealership.

Maybe I'm just too picky! :dunno:

Dealerships in MA

I've found that the best/most knowledgable dealership in MA is BMW of Peabody. I didn't buy my car there, but I wish I did now. Like you, once I'd signed on the dotted line, all service whatsoever went out the window. Since then, I've been trying out the various dealerships whenever I needed any maintenance work done. Peabody has the best showroom and the nicest staff. Only problem is its a little far for me to get there.

Just got back from Spartanburg!

MAN! The delivery was GREAT!

FWIW, my mats were already in the car- I didn't need to take them.

You will have SO much fun in the 330 that they give you for the track!

If you are lucky, they'll let you drive the Instructor's M5's around the skid pad- THAT was fun! This is a pic of one of the ladies in my group getting ready to spin her around:

Also, the factory tours were closed due to the new 03 Z3's being in production. :( But, it was still a great experience! Make sure to stop by the BMWCCA headquarters while you're there. Not much to see, but nice to visit and they'll give you some pins, stickers, etc.

Propeller head....you did not knock over all those cones, did you??;) :D
Smarta$$! :p Actually, those are directional cones- telling the driver which way to turn. See this pic...

Those far cones are telling us to turn hard right- it gets confusing when you forget which way to enter the slalom.

This is what my wife did in the M5..

The premise of the M5 drive was that the Z8 school took over the larger skid pad where we were going to test the DSC. Since the instructor felt bad about us getting shifted around, he brought another M5 up there and we used them for the DSC demonstration. First a lil understeer (no DSC) then a lil OVERsteer (also no DSC)- then the same with the DSC on. Very effective demonstartion. And F-U-N! I was giggling like a schoolgirl. And I am unashamed.

As I said, it is now impossible for me to sleep this week! I don't know if I'll be so lucky to get into an M5, but either way, I can't wait! Fortunately, my girlfiend cannot drive stick so I will be in the drivers seat 100% of the time! :thumb:

I was only joking.... but, thanks for the explination.:thumb:

I hope to take a trip over to Spartanburg for a day, during summer vacation at Myrtle Beach this year.

I wonder if the factory tour will be open by then:dunno: (middle August)

No problem, dude. I hope my tone didn't sound too harsh. :)

I would imagine that the tour would be open by then. The key will be whether or not the new Z3's have been introduced yet.:dunno:
