I hope this works, first time posting pictures.

I saw a post from 31st330i regarding his experiences with Calaveras Blvd in Milpitas/Alameda. Decided to take the drive last weekend. The views were fantastic and the road is very curvy. I highly recommend this route for anyone living here in the South bay.

be careful. there are lots of wild animals in that area. I saw a really mean jaguar last week.

I prefer traveling that road southbound. it's so fun that it should be illegal. I may driver through there in the next 20 minutes. nice day!!!
Perfect day today. If I could I would be driving up there as well.

I didn't see any wild animals last weekend. However I had many encounters with the cows...seemed like they really didn't want me taking pictures.

Nice pics buddy!! Your car looks good with those clear lenses. All you need now are some 18" wheels hehe. I'll have to check out that road soon.
in case you didn't see it already, here's a link to more "driving" roads all over california.

Great info, I'll check it out. BTW, what are your favorites that you have driven?

i live in Fremont, Ca...... i dunno...but finding out that people posting here actually live close to me makes me happy for some reason =)...... or maybe its cuz i haven't slept in 23 hours.....

but yea....this is kool !
Thanks for the website for the roads AD. I'll have to find some time to check it out if I have time away from the "wifey" hehe. :bigpimp:

Maybe after I get the UUC Swaybarbarian, I can take the corners good hehe.

my personal favorit is still southbound calaveras. my 330SP just slices through that road. northbound is more dangerous because you have the outside lane and because the corners seem to be more blind than they are when traveling southbound. 2nd to last time i traveled northbound, I got attacked by a wild jaguar. ;)
Be careful back there, us bicyclists like Calaveras Reservoir too. FYI, there's a century ride that will be heading North on Calaveras tomorrow morning. Unless you like hundreds of bicyclists, I'd drive somewhere else tomorrow. It should be mostly clear by 10 or 11.

FWIW, another road is San Antonio Valley Road. Just head up to the top of Mt. Hamilton and keep going. Another 50 miles and you'll end up in Livermore. There are a few bicyclists back there, but the traffic is mainly ranchers and motorcyclists. I'll be heading out that way when my new car is delivered :D
yeah, I try to avoid that road on the weekends. not too many cyclists there durring the week.

on a similar note. I drove palomeras today. nice ride. can't go too fast but it's certainly a nice way to spend a saturday afternoon driving a bimmer. :D
Oh, I don't know, I've come close to 50 heading down the North side of Palomares (~1 mile of 14% grade at the top -- fun climb on a bike). That would be on a bike, of course. I was on that road one time when every Acura NSX within 100 miles must have been out for a club drive. I was grateful they encountered me when I was climbing up the South side and could give them room to pass. If I'm heading down a hill and going 45+, I want all the road I can get and I'm too busy to be thinking much about cars.

Palomares will see cyclists from the same ride tomorrow too. They'll be heading South and they'll be on that road at a wide range of times. It's the last climb of the 100 mile and 100 km rides, which both end at Logan High in Union City.
I have friends in union city that went to logan.
I'll be eating lunch at Logan High tomorrow. I'm only doing the 100 km ride this year -- my crash last summer has me backing off a bit this year. I did the full century last year, but the route changed this year with the inclusion of Patterson Pass. FYI: http://www.fremontfreewheelers.org/primavera.html
hey Ad, did you scan the pics from a film camera or is that a digi-cam?

If you have a larger/higher resolution version (preferable 1024x768) of the 2nd one, I'd love to get a copy -- it looks great & might make a nice desktop pic! :thumb:
