Polishes(Zaino) and Waxes?

1024 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Guest84
What exactly is the difference between a Polish and a Wax? Reason I ask is that I was considering trying out the Zaino products which all seem to be based of polish and no mentioning of using a wax. Is this a good idea, or should I stick with a wax product?

A polish is defined as a surface preparation for the final wax. Polishes can come in a variety from a mild polish to an abrasive polish. It's highly recommended that you use polish to clean up swirl marks or light scratches before applying the final wax.

Zaino is a series of products that take the surface from a polish stage, thru a paint cleaning stage, to a final wax phase. The only difference between a product like Zaino or Zymol is they are a synthetic wax compared to others that may be "carnauba" based (Natural wax).

If you go with Zaino, get the complete Zaino product line. If you go with natural wax, get a good hand polish prior to applying the final wax coat.

Mostly true. Zaino brands themself as a polish because they are not a wax. None of the Zaino products, save the windshield polish and the clay, are abrasive so I think polish is a little bit of a misnomer. Their products only prep (Z1, ZFX, Clay), wash (Z7) and then wax (Z2, Z5).

I'm pretty sure Zymol is natural wax. Zaino is polymer.
Yep, Zymol is a carnauba, I'm needing coffee and thinking Klasse! (And Klasse isn't really considered a polymer either, but an "acrylic" formula) ;) Thks for the correction.
