Polishes(Zaino) and Waxes?

What exactly is the difference between a Polish and a Wax? Reason I ask is that I was considering trying out the Zaino products which all seem to be based of polish and no mentioning of using a wax. Is this a good idea, or should I stick with a wax product?

I'm no expert on the difference, but I can tell you that Zaino does protect your car's finish and makes it like a mirror! I'm sold on polish at present. I also love Z-6 (if you're familiar with the Z line). It's my new best detailing friend. Amazing!

Despite Zaino's naming conventions, my understanding is that polishes and glazes are used to gently fill/buff out microscratches and enhance gloss, but do not provide any degree of protection for the finish. Examples would be P21S Paint Cleanser, 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, and Zaino's Z-1.

After polishing/glazing, a "wax" (including polymer formulations like Zaino's Z-2 and Z-5, as well as natural carnauba waxes like P21S and Zymol) is applied to "lock in" the shine and protect the finish from the elements.

Perhaps I'm wrong on this... experts, can you weigh in? :dunno:
