Positive battery cable pass thru fittings

I swear this 2008 328xi is going to kill me before I can sell it.

So along with all the other issues moanyh of you helped me with, now I am dealing with another no start issue. I replaced the starter, assuming that was the issue but its not. I was just getting a clicking and every fault code imaginable.

I pulled the batter to day to inspec the positive side 'gadgets' and in doing so the positive main cable was rotted off. There is my problem.

Can I just replace these pass thru fittings without replacing the entire bacle from battery to under hood?

This is a similiar pic that I took from the internet, not my car but both terminals are rotted beyond repair.

One pic is of rotted terminals that pass thru wheel well and the other is the new cable for $400.

This might help. See post #19.

But make sure to figure out where the water/whatever is coming from that allowed for that corrosion.

Since we don't have specific photos of the nature, extent & location of rust damage to Transfer Points in YOUR vehicle, we can't advise on what to replace. However its QUITE unlikely that the cables (2) that run beneath the car need to be replaced. Replacement "Transfer Points" are available per these links:

As I understand the process (I have NOT done it), there are TWO different possible Cable Materials that may be used on YOUR vehicle: (1) Copper, or (2) Aluminum. The "Kit" contains one replacement terminal for Copper Cable, and ONE for Aluminum. The Kit ONLY replaces ONE of the two Transfer points.

The Kit you show looks like it replaces everything, but the documentation is poor. Hopefully someone at ECS is knowledgeable about the different available solutions and whether what they offer is Copper or Aluminum wire. If you get any reliable information, please take the time to educate the rest of us.
