Hello all...

Just picked up a 99 2.8 Coupe today. Driving it home today on the freeway, noticed a bit of chatter, howling kind of sound (not terribly loud) but when I put the clutch in, it goes away. Kind of sounds like the sound the throwout bearing makes when you're sitting in neutral, then put the clutch in and it goes away.

Car has 145k miles but has been very well taken care of and the owner had all the receipts back to day one. But nothing about clutch issues.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you need to pull the transmission to fix this issue, it would be a good time to fix the shift pin issue you are having in your other post.

Thanks for the help... I looked at the maintenance records, and no sign of a clutch, so might just be a great time to take it all apart, replace/refresh everything and then I won't have to think about it for 10 years! :)

I'm working on 130k miles and 16 years on my clutch, so I hope you can get more than 10 years out of it. Good luck.
