Hey BMW gurus, I'm wanting some opinions and purchase advice.

Previously i had a 330ci convertible e46 and I loved that car. Life happened and now I have a kid and another on the way so the convertible was sold and I picked up a Camry as a second car (also have an explorer as a kid hauler for longer trips).

Anyway it's time for another BMW as I are ally want a car with some soul again. I can do ca lot of basic maintenance and repairs and I've somewhat narrowed my choices to the following.

E34 540i with the 6 speed. This one has about 150k miles with some pretty solid maintenance records with a redone cluster and everything seemingly working like it should. Not sure on the timing chain guides

E60 models 530i or 550i with around 130-150k miles. No records on these but I'm pretty sure I could get the dealer to agree to an independent ppi.

Also thinking of the e46 3 series if I can find a manual transmission so I can avoid the reverse issue.

Thoughts for a vehicle that will have two car seats in the back but still be fun and reliable?
