I believe about 105 miles on the track. Lots of fun. The track FLOODED overnight and mud was on the course in the morning for the eary run groups. I was in the 4th group, so it was cleared off. Still slick though. The first and second runs were wet. The track had mostly dried out for the 3rd run, except some wet patches. On a sad note, during the his third run, my instructor blew the motor in his E30. It was a 325is with a '95 M3 motor. There are no transmission re-enforcers and it moved on him causing a downshift into 2nd. I passed many cars and wasn't passed at all in the first 3 runs. The 4th run was in the rain. I am certainly glad that I had automatic wipers. In that run, I was passed once by the Carerra RS while being cautious in the rain, I passed him again though

This car is great, very composed and ultra-smooth. Fast too. There was one other E46 there, an auto 330i SP. He did pretty well. I was always able to run away from him and pulled hard on him in the turns and straights.

Some pics; There were many cars that I didn't get including Turbos, etc...

Blowing motors on shifts from 3rd to 4th is pretty common on the track when drivers are either too excited and pull towards them while they shift (putting the car into 2nd at 90 mph) or when the transmission shifts over under cornering forces (and the car goes into 2nd again at speed).

Sorry to hear about your instructor. My instructor's wife blew up his 1995 E36 M3 at Laguna Seca two years ago the same way. We were having a great weekend until it happened.

I guess he got screwed by the '95 M3 curse. :( There are a LOT of '95 M3s with blown engines.

I think the older engines were a lot less tolerant of over-revs, too. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: I watched my sister grab 1st gear at a touch under 50mph in my car. Not a pleasant experience. :( No harm done, though.

Yea, the E30 was gorgeous. He said that when he puts in a new motor that he will custom build a tranny enforcer so that it doesn't happen again.

I did ride in his Civic CRX Si hatch. Those little things are fast as hell gutted :)

My previous 01 Corvette walks my M3 any day of the week... But the M3 is a much better car overall... :thumb:

If it is an organized driving school, any wrecks are covered....
Unless you live in Taxachusetts (bastards).

Which track was this? Fix the pics, I wanna see em!
