Question for those of you with uuc sways.

I don't want to bug Rob L. with such a little question, it's more of just an fyi kind of thing. The rear end links, the top joint, the one that can pivot around. I was checking my clearances again yesterday just because I was in the mood to tinker, and noticed that they've rotated again.

How do I describe? Wish I had a digi-cam. The top joint that connects to the suspension arm, both sides have twisted so that instead of being 90 degrees to the bolt, they're now more at a 70 degree angle. They're sitting pretty much at the extreme that the bearing joint will allow.

Now first, I know this probably isn't the greatest thing for the longevity of the bearing but how do you cure it? No matter how much I try to tighten the end links (nut in the middle to adjust the length) down they still end up rotating after a few weeks.

This normal and everyone else seeing the same thing, or am I missing something pretty important?

I THINK I kinda know what you're talking about and I'll try and be as descriptive as I can, but without pictures it's hard to figure out. :(

First of all, there's a LOCKING NUT in the center of the adjustible swaybar link. Be sure once you have the link lenghth adjusted to a length of your liking, lower the locking nut to butt up against the bottom half of the adjustible link and secure it so the link does not move around.

Second, in the Bentley's manual it's actually recommended that the link does not sit exactly 90 degree to the upper arm, the diagram shows about a 97 degree relationship...or 83 depending on your perspective. Given that the mounting holes on the UUC swaybar is WAY shorter than the OEM sways, if you have it set on MAX STIFF it's not going to even be remotely close to the 97/83 degree relationship unless you adjust your swaybar links longer or shorter.

I hope one or the other (or even both adjustments) will address your issue. And from what I've know of Rob L. he's quite open to questions...That was how I opened a dialog and started receiving discounts on his items.

Thank HACK, you've got it exactly right. Any tips on tightening that locking nut down? Each time I check the clearances, I've ended up pulling the back wheels and pulling the links all apart to tighten that down. Each time it loosens back up and allows the link to effectively "spin" just a little.

If it were a major concern to me I'd ask Ron. Talked to him before, it's why I'd buy anything UUC makes without a second thought.

They're hexigonal in shape...The only thing I can suggest is to use two adjustible wrenches and lock it down while holding the bottom half in place with the other wrench.

I haven't checked mine in a long time...Perhaps I should. There's an annoying "clunk" that's coming from the rear, either from the shock mounts up top or the swaybar links. Maybe this weekend I'll go over everything and tighten it down.

PS any experience with different settings?

Set front and back to medium and I'm digging it. But as with all things adjustable my penchant for tinkering is getting to me.

You running full stiff? Or know anybody who does?

Exactly Hack. I'm experiencing the same thing. I tightened everything when I changed my setting to full stiff and it seemed fine for a few weeks. After two weeks, it happened again. Sometimes it's LOUD. Only happens in the mornings. The car hesitates to move, and once you pass that resistance, you hear that loud clunk and the car drops a little. I'm gonna have another look at it tomorrow when I install the ssk, and I'll post an update.
