I took delivery of my new 330i yesterday, and it's soooooooo tight, and fast!!!! I am wondering how much I should expect the car to loosen up over the next year or two?

I've had mine for over 9 months and she's still just as tight as the day I took delivery. My leather seats aren't even creased! =)

Both of you, please define what YOU mean by "TIGHT".

Well it depends... cars or women? :D

For the car at least, it means minimal squeaks and rattles, suspension is still stiff, steering is still precise and has not lost its original sharp feel, brakes are still hard, engine is still (actually, more) powerful... things like that. Overall the quality of my car is just as it was when I first drove it.
Webguy330i - that's exactly what I was referring to.

EDIT: My previous car was an A4 Audi, and after 2 years of "hard" driving the car was noticeably slower and no where near as tight (as defined by Webguy330i.)

Wow I wouldn't expect power loss to occur until the 80k mile mark or so!
At that time I had around 40k on the car. Also I might add that the car was in the shop at least once a month for major repairs (and I would never recommend an Audi to anyone), but that's a different story.
I'm at 2 years and 38,000 miles and the car corners, handles, shifts, drives, and performs better than new. Things have loosened up like the door hinges and the steering wheel has been worn smooth, and the driver's side leather seat is a lot smoother than the passenger side, but that's to be expected from daily use. It's even shinier than when it was new.

Not a day goes by that this car does not bring a giant smile on my face. Every morning.
Built on the 08/24/99 and still 'tight'. :)

Other than fold-down rear seat rattles no problem at all. (BTW, the rattle can be fixed just by applying some silicone spray)
My car hanles and drives better than new, the clutch is stiffer, I feel more of the road, I enjoy driving it more than new...

There is wear for shure and that is to be expected. :dunno:
Car and Driver recently concluded a long term test of a 328i (accumulating over 40K Miles). See the link below. They noted that the performance remained virtually unchanged compared to when it was new.

I recall reading an article somewhere (perhaps another magazine) where the performance actually increased after a year or more of driving. :dunno:
