I went a little detailing-product-happy today, and I'm wondering if I got a redundant product.

I picked up the Meguiar's Deep Crystal System polish (the one that says "Step 2" on the label).

I also picked up the Meguiar's Gold Class liquid wax.

But, when I got home, I was reading the blurb on the back of the wax, and it seems it has some polishing compounds built-in (e.g., "adds feeder oils to nourish the paint").

So I'm wondering... should I return the polish, and just use the wax? I know next to nothing about this stuff, as is probably obvious, so I hope this isn't a stupid question :) ...

Thanks in advance.

E36M3, a member on this board, could probably answer better, he's a rep for Meguiars I believe...however, the steps I do for a full detail include in order, 1) Polish stage, 2) paint cleaner stage and finally 3) wax. Sounds like the Meguiar's Deep Crystal System polish does number 1 and 2 .

I have helped a friend detailed his car with the deep crystal #2Polish and #3Wax. The system has the #1Paint cleaner as the first step.

I would NOT recommend the Deep Crystal line of product.
Get the professional line of Meguiar product. #7,#26 would be better and replaces Deep Crystal #2 and #3.

show car glaze

I use the meguiars show car glaze (#7 i think) about 4 times a year before i wax with Gold Class. The shine i get when i do the show car glaze/gold class combo is unreal. I highly reccommend it and its pretty easy to use.

Where do you get most of the professional meguiars stuff. The place i go to but my detailing supplies only has a few of the professional line?

Napa/Pepboys/Kragen are the places that carries the Meguiar professional line product. At least in N. Cal. here.
But they usually ran out of one or the other so you probably need a few trips to different places to get everything which I know is a pain.

I have also seen the #26yellow wax available in places like Orchard supply hardware.
