Well, I've taken the plunge and have a 2002 M3 Cab on order. I'm paying MSRP with a dealer in Bellevue, WA and have been told that I have a July slot (hopefully early July!). I went mostly for options that don't have a good aftermarket story: SMGII, heated seats, and xenon headlights. I'm planning out my post delivery work and I was wondering what folks are doing wrt radar detectors. I'm a safe driver but I figure this car could be a cop magnet (Red won't help) so I want to stay on my toes. Any recommendations?

The V1 is pretty inexpensive and it's easy to hardwire it yourself. I like mine. If you want the very best, check out Escort's Passport SRX with Laser Shifting technology.

1500 bucks for radar detection.....to rich for my blood. Pretty cool how thier install pictures are into a BMW:thumb: I do like Escorts products though (happy Escort Solo, and Passport Solo owner)

I also had a Solo Escort for 2 years, it was good. cordless was nice. But it wasn't good enough and I got a ticket with it, so I sold it on eBay (for $150!!) and bought a V1. =)

So much nicer have it hardwired though, don't have to turn it on every time I get into my car.

I should have mentioned that I use the Passport Solo for rear detection, Escort for front. Escort is not very good at picking up signals from behind. It is a little bit of a pain in the neck turning both on, but I rely on the auto off feature to turn off the Passport.

Soon I want to try out the V1 (maybe Santa will bring me one:thumb: :thumb: )

Shop around for the SRX. I have found the two local (in MD) dealers who are BMW dealers discount the unit.

$1265 installed from BMW of Towson.

Gives radar detectiona nd laser "shifting" so better than a detector alone. Typically a laser detector just tells you to pull over for your ticket.
