So, I just replaced my water pump. What a nightmare that was. I think the job shorted out a few million brain cells because I can't get my AC belt back on. For one problem, I can't find a belt diagram for the V12 anywhere (nope, don't see on on e38.org or Meeknet's page) and as you can see from the photo, something just is not lining up right. I'm also sure I have the right belt (I'm using the shorter of the two). If I route it the way I have in the picture, the ribs rub along the object stuck out between the pulley and the AC compressor; if I pull the belt towards the floor, it gets stuck between the pulley and the tensioner.

I'm sorry for such a dumb question, but what on earth did I do wrong?

Looking at both pictures they don't look the same. I don't have a 750 but it looks like you have the wrong belt on your car then the engine out of the car it goes over that top pully. One trick I learned was to make a drawing when you pull the belts off
